Top 5 Restaurants In Banff
A blog from Conor…
There are so many restaurants in Banff to choose from and having lived there for 2 years I had the pleasure of being able to dine in them. In this blog I’m going to share my top 5 restaurants in Banff to enjoy after a long day on the slopes, making the most of your ski holiday in Canada.
There’s nothing like fondue in the mountains and at the Grizzly House, you can enjoy 3-course meat, cheese, and chocolate fondue all in one sitting. They offer a selection of different meats ranging from local beef and venison to exotic meats like rattlesnake and alligator depending on how adventurous you are! The restaurant has a real mountain cabin feel with rustic wooden beams and sizzling hot rocks on the tables it truly is one of the best dining experiences in Banff and is not one to be missed. If you’re looking for a romantic evening I would recommend getting a cosy booth and share the experience of cooking your food on volcanic hot rocks and sharing a creamy cheese fondue together.
The only distillery in a national park in the world! Park offers not only craft spirits that are distilled in house but also great campfire style food. They have an amazing selection of craft cocktails and a sampling board that lets you try all 6 of their in-house spirits, once you finish your drink you can take a free guided tour of the distillery where they will tell you about the process of making the spirits and the ingredients involved. They offer amazing food all made with locally sourced ingredients and are kid friendly too. This is a great place to sample some real Canadian food and its fun for the whole family.
Undoubtedly the best breakfast in town! Tooloulou’s is a small Cajun style diner that offers a hearty breakfast bringing a taste of Louisiana to Banff. Whether you feel like pancakes and waffles or a full Canadian breakfast you won’t be stuck for choice here. An amazing place to take the family in the evening too, if you like to spice up your meal ask about their fantastic range of hot sauces! Local tip: if there’s a queue in the morning, it will go down quick and it’s worth the wait.
One of my favourite dining experiences in Banff was watching the sun go down over the mountains whilst sat in the three ravens enjoying top class food with a brilliant wine pairing. Although the restaurant is fine dining, there is a welcoming atmosphere with incredibly friendly staff. The Three Ravens is situated in the Banff Centre, home to the world-famous Banff Film Festival, on the side of tunnel mountain and a great idea for an unforgettable evening would be dinner followed by a spectacular performance at the Banff Centre. Sit back and enjoy the view!
The Keg Steakhouse
If you’re looking for a great place to take the kids, the family-friendly Keg Steakhouse is the place to go. They have a very reasonably priced menu with some top-quality steaks as well as other options for non-meat eaters. There are two Kegs in Banff and my local tip is to go to the one in the Caribou hotel as the authentic cabin feel adds to the warm environment. Another great bonus is the Red Earth Spa in the Caribou hotel, after a long day on the slopes, what’s better than a relaxing spa and a cosy meal by the fire.
